$EVAL: Evaluate a macro expression‘$EVAL(expression)’ uses FWEB’s macro-expression evaluator (see Preprocessing) to reduce the macro expression to its simplest form. An attempt to perform arithmetic on combinations of non-macro identifiers and numbers generates a warning message.
